Windows Patch Automation
TECHNOLOGY
Leading ITES Provider
Autonomous agent for Windows patching.

Objectives
The objective was to automate Microsoft Windows patch installation across enterprise servers and endpoints in alignment with change management policies. The customer required a reliable system that could execute patching based on approved schedules with minimal manual intervention. The system needed to ensure prerequisite validation, backup safety, reboot handling, and failure recovery. The goal was to improve security compliance, operational efficiency, and audit readiness.
Solutions
CTPL developed an autonomous Windows Patch Management Agent integrated with the enterprise Tool Automation Engine and Change Management System. The agent automatically received patch schedules, configuration, and instructions based on approved change requests. It performed prerequisite validation such as disk space, services status, and system readiness before initiating patch installation. The system created backup snapshots before patching to ensure rollback safety. It installed approved patches, handled system reboot automatically where required, and validated system availability after restart. In case of patch failures, the agent automatically retried installation during the next approved downtime window. The agent generated detailed execution logs and pushed status updates to the central system for audit and compliance tracking. This enabled a fully automated, reliable, and secure patch management process.
