The traditional manual system for processing bag tags is fraught with the potential for delays, errors, and inefficiencies. An automated solution is not just a convenience but a necessity to cope with the growing volume of passengers and their expectations for seamless travel. 

Approach / Solution: 

To address this critical need, we have developed an OCR-based baggage handling system tailored for the dynamic airport environment. The system utilizes sophisticated machine learning algorithms to recognize and process bag tag information from a diverse array of airline formats. It can intelligently differentiate between text and barcodes, even in low-light conditions or when tags are damaged or worn. 

The solution encompasses several modules: image capture, data extraction, data validation, and integration with the airport’s baggage management system. The image capture module uses high-resolution cameras to take clear images of bag tags. The data extraction module, powered by Google’s OCR Engine, interprets the images and extracts relevant information such as flight details, passenger names, and destination codes. 

Once the data is extracted, the validation module cross-references it with the airport’s flight database to ensure accuracy. The final step is seamless integration, where the extracted data is inputted to the airport’s baggage handling system, enabling real-time tracking of luggage throughout the airport.
